a passion born
When William was born, everything shifted for us. What had been a hobby suddenly meant something much deeper. Watching him grow made us realise how powerful it is to hold on to the little moments that pass so quickly. The way he looked at us, the way he changed almost daily, the moments we wished we could freeze and keep forever. Capturing those memories for ourselves sparked something we couldn’t ignore. We saw how meaningful photographs could be, how they can be shared, cherished and looked back on with love. That sense of purpose is what pushed us to take photography seriously.
At the same time, we were looking for a way to build a better future for our family. We wanted to be debt free by forty, but nothing we explored for extra income felt right. Photography was the one thing that felt natural. It was something we enjoyed, something we felt connected to and something we knew we could grow in together. It offered a way to create a life we wanted for our family while bringing joy to others. That is when True Focus Photography truly began.
What we love most about this work is still the same thing that inspired us in the first place. It is the people, the connection and the stories that deserve to be remembered. Being invited into meaningful moments, whether a wedding, a family session or a quiet moment between people who love each other, is something we never take lightly. Our approach is simple and honest. We focus on genuine, unfiltered moments while still capturing the important details you want to remember. The images that stay on mantles and walls for years are the ones that feel real, and those are the photographs we aim to create.

Behind the lens
Outside of photography, our world is centred around our little boy, William, who is twenty seven months old and the light of our lives. Becoming parents deepened everything for us. It changed the way we see time, connection and the small everyday moments that pass by so quickly. It also strengthened who we are as a team. We are naturally introverted, which means we bring our energy and presence with intention. When we are with clients, you get the best of us. We listen, we connect and we create space for you to feel comfortable and cared for.
New Zealand will always feel like home in the truest sense. The landscapes, from coast to mountains, never lose their magic. We are happy photographing anywhere in the country and feel lucky to live in a place that adds so much beauty to every story.
